Steady energy: eating for focus across a long day.

3 min read · Jake Sugg

Most leaders do not have a diet problem. They have an energy problem. The afternoon slump, the four o'clock reach for sugar, the decision fatigue that creeps in by the end of a long day. A lot of that is not willpower. It is what and when you ate.

Food is the fuel your brain runs on, and your brain is the tool you lead with. Eating for focus is not about restriction. It is about steady energy instead of spikes and crashes.

A few principles that do most of the work

Why it matters for leaders

Your hardest thinking often happens late in the day, exactly when energy and blood sugar are at their lowest. Eating for steady energy protects the quality of your decisions at the moment they matter most.

You cannot lead well on crashes. Eat for steady energy, and the sharpness looks after itself.
